Here's how to start:
- Check out the assembly instructions and put together the MM-hero
- Place the MM-hero in a sunny spot. Veggies need at least 6 hours of sunlight a day. This can be anywhere: in your garden, on your balcony, or (roof) terrace, but preferably somewhere you see regularly. That way, you won't forget it, you'll take better care of your plants, and you'll harvest more.
- Fill the MM-hero with the MM-mix.
- Use the trowel to loosen the mix well and then moisten it. Sometimes the mix is a bit compressed and has clumps: squeeze or rub those away.
- Download the app and add the MM-hero to it.
- Sow the sections one by one with the 8 types of seeds. Follow the steps in the app for that.

Makkelijke Moestuin Mix
With MM mix, your veggies get exactly what they need to grow strong and healthy: moisture, nutrients, water, and air.
That means they don’t need to grow huge root systems — even big plants like tomatoes and sunflowers do just fine in a 30 x 30 cm square.
You can leave this mix in your box year after year, so you don't need to replace it. Just top it off a little at the start of a new season and give your plants some MM-nutrients every now and then. If you use the app, you'll get a notification for that.
And if you're moving, you can just take the box and the mix with you 😊

We made the Makkelijke Moestuin app exclusively for our system, tailored it 100% to it, and it works with our products.
As soon as you add your box(es) to the app, it gives you advice for your unique situation and provides super clear, step-by-step instructions. Plus, the app knows everything about the Makkelijke Moestuin seeds and guides you at every step - from seed to harvest. Right at the perfect time.
You also regularly get some simple to-dos: relevant for the time of year and tailored to what you have in your box at that moment.
This way, you do exactly what's needed to keep your plants healthy and solve problems before they even arise. In an average of 5 minutes a day.
About the boards made from recycled plastic
A 120 cm board weighs abour 7,5 kilos and is made from one of the toughest types of waste there is: plastic that normally can’t be recycled and would otherwise end up in incinerators.
The amount of plastic packed into this MM-hero could easily fill a small room, floor to ceiling. So yes — we’re pretty proud to turn part of the plastic problem into something beautiful and useful.
Because the boards are pressed at high temperatures, the material has been thoroughly tested and certified safe — both for the environment and for you.
These solid boards are 3 cm thick and super heavy: one 120 cm board weighs about 7.5 kilos. They're made from the toughest type of waste plastic there is.
Some plastic waste - like from plastic bottles - can be fairly easily recycled. You see that, for example, in the plastic plant pots from other brands or in our MM-minis and MM-air containers.
But 60% can't be. Either because the plastic isn't suitable for it, or it's mixed with other materials. So it either gets burned or covered with a layer of soil.

What can be done is making sturdy boards from it that we use for our Hero's. By buying the largest Hero, you clean up about 30 kilos of that tough plastic waste. If you piled all that plastic up, you could probably fill your entire living room with it. Or twice if you live in a small apartment.
