A Planty Garden in a nutshell
Planty Gardening is a smart and easy way to grow vegetables. Our system produces huge yields without requiring lots of space.
The big difference between a Planty Garden and growing in a more traditional way is you use small garden boxes (120x120 cm usually). These are special vegetable garden containers that are placed on top of the soil, grass, tiles, roof, wherever.
You then fill your garden box with the perfect soil mix (the MM-Mix). This mix has everything plants need: natural, nutrient-rich ingredients that keep it airy and moist.

Everything grows in this soil mix: all your veggies and herbs and flowers. They love it. And not only that, but it's also super sustainable. You can use the same soil mix, year in and year out. Just leave it in your garden box and add some extra nutrients to it once in a while.

Square vegetable patches
After filling up your garden box, you divide it into sections with a handy grid. These 30x30 cm square sections organize your garden and give you a clear overview.
Every square is home to a different type of vegetable. So you have a radish patch in 1 square and a turnip patch in another. You get a lot of variety at harvest time, and each plant has all the room it needs to grow.
With a garden box like this, all your vegetables are accessible and easy to care for.
Most importantly, it's a super-efficient way to grow. You don't waste any seeds when you're sowing. You only water your plants when they need it.

Veel oogst op weinig ruimte
Zelfs op een klein balkonnetje kun je met een Makkelijke Moestuin al heel wat eten verbouwen. Want in elk vak van 30x30cm groeien jaarlijks tot wel 4 verschillende soorten.

This smart gardening approach is based on Mel Bartholomew's Square Foot Gardening technique. It started in the US and has been picked up by gardeners all over the world. SFG has proven to be really effective. It's a great place to start.
When I built my first garden box with SFG I was 14. It worked so well, I wanted to share it with others.

As a beginner, I made a lot of mistakes. Even after I took a course with Mel and got certified as an SFG coach. I still learned a lot by trial and error.
Success from the start
When I first started, I had no clue about gardening. But kept at it with Mel's system and built on what I learned. That's why Planty exists: to help more people experience success from the start.
Perfecte moestuin en perfecte planten?
In geen enkele Makkelijke Moestuin lukt altijd alles en is elke plant perfect. Ook niet in die van ons. Dat geeft ook helemaal niets.

Tuurlijk, soms wel. Maar af en toe een beestje is helemaal niet erg. Een blad met een gaatje is net zo lekker als een zonder. Bovendien is het sowieso lekkerder dan die uit de supermarkt 😉.

90% succes - 10% mislukking
De combinatie van onze methode, spullen, zaden en de hulp van de app geeft 9 van de 10 keer een zeer goed resultaat.
Dat percentage is vele malen hoger dan in een gewone moestuin, en voor beginners is dat zelfs een onvoorstelbaar succes. De 10% die misgaat is dan ook te verwaarlozen.
Komt een plantje niet op of vreet er een beestje aan: het hoort er bij. Dat is de natuur. Bovendien geeft de overige 90% meer dan genoeg oogst.

De community van de Makkelijke Moestuin
In de loop der jaren is er een hele mooie community van MM-ers ontstaan. Je hoeft je in een Makkelijke Moestuin dus eigenlijk nooit zorgen te maken - er is altijd iemand met een antwoord 🙂
De community is dé plek waar we elkaar ontmoeten, waar je schaamteloos je Makkelijke Moestuin showt, dat superlekkere receptje deelt en waar je die vraag kunt stellen waar je al wekenlang mee rond loopt. Of juist als ervaren MM-er advies geeft.
