Why pre-sow with this special mixture?
Most people pre-sow in pots with potting soil. This doesn't always go well: the potting soil dries out or becomes too wet and starts to mold, the seeds don't germinate well or the seedlings grow too quickly. And when you want to transplant the delicate seedlings, you easily damage the roots.
With the MM pre-sowing mix, you won't have any of these disadvantages. The nutrition in it is perfectly tailored to seedlings so that they grow strong in the first few weeks, but not too quickly. The mix retains moisture well - but not too much - and remains airy, making it easy for the seeds to germinate.
Summer vegetables - such as tomatoes and cucumbers - can only be planted outside at the end of May. That's why you grow them indoors and then transfer them as seedlings to your garden bed.
It can also be smart to pre-sow other vegetables, herbs, and flowers. For example, early in the season or if you have limited space in your vegetable garden beds.
The mixture is ready to use, so all you have to do is fill your pots*, moisten the mix a little, and sow your seeds.
* We use Airpots: the plants grow better and faster in them than in regular pots. They come in 2 sizes: the smaller ones for tomatoes and other plants that stay small, and the larger ones for fast growers like cucumber, pumpkin, and zucchini.
With the contents of the 5-liter bag, you can fill at least 20 small airpots or 7 large ones.
