What's so special about our baby pumpkin?

Pumpkin plants usually take up a lot of space and get too big for a garden box.

This variety produces small pumpkins. You guide the vine through your trellis, so they don't take over there rest of your garden.

Sowing and growing

Pumpkins can't stand the cold, so you’ll first pre-sow them indoors. Start between late April and early May.

Pre-germinate the seeds so they produce a root. Then put them in a pot with 1 part MM-Mix and 1 part fine vermiculite. Grow the plant indoors until it's ready for the outdoors. Then move it to a patch under your trellis at the back of your garden box.

Pumpkins need a lot of nutrients. Give them some extra MM-Plantfood when you plant them, and add some more in mid-July.

Note: This plant will take up a lot of trellis space, so it’s good to put them in a patch next to a less intense grower, like beans.

Step-by-step sowing and growing instructions are included in the Planty Gardening app.
